Windows are in!

As you can see, the house is moving right along and things are continuing to change every day! Yesterday the window crew came in and tore out the old windows and installed these. I am really happy with how they turned out and know that it's going to help keep the house so much warmer than before! I think they look great :) Now we just need to finish the sheetrock around the window frames and we'll be back into business with painting!

!SNOW!....It's about time

It's about time that we got our first snow storm for the winter in Lehi. Last night (January 23rd) I walked out of my school classes at UVU and it was snowing! It made me so happy to see the white flakes falling as it hasn't snowed hardly at all this year. It didn't amount to be very much but atleast it stuck to the ground this time! I just hope that the mountains were able to get a lot more because Dallen and I have yet to make a run down the slopes with his new board. I will be continuing to pray for snow so we can go snow boarding when Dallen comes home next week! I sure hope it does!

...The Progress Continues

Over this past weekend Dallen was home and we were able to get a lot done on the house! It makes us excited to see the progress on the house as it moves right along with improvements. On Friday Eddie came over and helped us plum in the new shower. The origional shower head was only to Dallen's shoulders so we fixed that problem. Thank you Eddie for your help! Our shower is going to be much better now!

Remember these ugly trees!??? We didn't like them so just a couple minutes with the truck and a chain fixed the problem :) After we pulled up all the trees we lit them on fire in our back yard and that was the end of their existence. I thought that we were going to get the fire truck called in on us because of all the smoke they put off. Fortunately we were fine and nothing happened with the fire department. It was fun though!

We were also able to do a bunch of painting and started putting color on the wall!

Dallen worked on the trim while I rolled the paint on the walls. We made a great team and by the end of hte weekend the bedrooms looked like this....! I love it

Proctor Painting Party

On Tuesday night after the boys got home from work, Spencer and Kait came down to our house to help us get started on painting the walls. Dallen and I went to Home Depot to get all the supplies and we started right away. While we were choosing out the paint I couldn't make a decision on the color for the walls but finally found a light brown. I was still debating if I liked the color as we were walking out of the store but I think it will look great once we get it on the walls.

Kait and I worked on priming the closet doors while the boys painted the ceilings. It was a lot of fun and we were even able to eat cafe rio for dinner!

Thank you Kait and Spence for your help! It was great to have you over to our house for the night! We appreciate your support and the fun memories that were made.

The next morning we all woke up and got ready for a session at the Timpanogos temple. Tymber (Dallen's cousin) was able to go through for her first time as she is preparing to go on her mission to Guatemala! The same country that Dallen was able to serve for his mission. It was a very spiritual meeting and we are really proud of Tymber and look forward to hearing about her mission in the future!

The Walls are Up!

After we got everything gutted out and cleaned up, we found some sheet rockers on ksl. It worked out great because they came the same day that we called them. Here is what they were able to do in one day..... It's pretty exciting to have the walls up now. All they have to do now is come back and texture so we can start painting!

My First Quilt With My Own Sewing Machine

Throughout my life growing up I watched my Great-Grandma Sonderegger piece together quilts and sew projects all the time. She always amazes me with her work. I made a couple of quilts with her in elementary school and high school and so she was the one that taught me how to sew and work with material. I’m not anywhere near the talent that she has, and probably never will be, but I am grateful for the things that she did teach me. I have been able to do many things with the knowledge she has passed down to me and I hope to only improve.

Anyways, during the school break I wanted to do some sort of a project with the new sewing machine that I got for Christmas, so I decided to put the ‘Cousin Quilt’ together. This past summer at the Proctor reunion, all the girls brought a 12x12 piece of material they liked and we traded them with everyone. It was fun to see what patterns of materials that everyone picked out and to have a project to put together.

Dallen helped me decide what order to put the different materials and then I sewed them together. It was fun trying out the different stitches on my sewing machine so I decided to put a couple boarders around everything…

After I got the top part pieced together I couldn’t remember how to bind everything together with the back and batting so I called up Grandma Joy and she said she would help me. We went shopping together, bought batting and material went back to the house and got everything ready to sew. If you don’t know, Grandma Joy has a cabin in her back yard with an awesome sewing machine that allows you to sew any pattern you want to. She taught me how to use it and I had a lot of fun spending time with her. I enjoyed making this quilt and look forward to more projects in the future. Thank you for everyone that contributed the material and for the amazing grandma's that taught me what I know.

The Demolition HOUSE begins

As soon as the house was in our name we started tearing down the walls, carpet, flooring, and anything else that we didn't like. Although we do have a demolition derby car in the driveway that needs some work, we decided that the house needed to have its demolition first! Dallen and I are really excited to remodel this house and to turn it into a much better one. Here are some pictures of the start of a big, but fun project...

One of Dallen's good friends from his mission came over to help us get started... Remember these lovely green couches?? Now they are cleared out and here is the family room empty and ready for repair. (Below)

...And the bathroom! What a great shower! (for me atleast haha) We'll have to do something to raise the shower head so it is useful for Dallen.

Scraping up the floors was a big project. The washer area and bathroom must have had a small leak for a really long time because all of the wood was wet and stunk!

Dallen cut out the wall where we are going to put in new tile and I pulled out staples from the floor. We had a fun time working with each other.

The Kitchen was one of the hardest to pull up the flooring. Dallen did most of it and worked really hard to get everything scraped up and clean

The cupboards were barely hanging on the wall so we put in a couple more screws and that solved the problem...

We are excited to look back in a couple of weeks at these pictures and see the changes that have been made! This house is going to be a great learning project for the both of us and we still consider it a perfect starter home!
