Warnick Reunion

The Warnick Family Reunion was held at Yuba Lake this year and we were excited to be able to go!  The picture above doesn't show everyone that was there but we were able to get some of the crew together for the pic. Dallen and I didn't sleep over any of the nights because I had to work but we were able to go for Saturday afternoon and night. It was so fun to see all of the family even though it was for a short couple of hours. We had dinner together, played hard on the boat, and soaked up the sun.

 It ws so fun having a boat there with knee boards and a tube. The water was pretty choppy while Dallen and I were there but we still had a blast on the tube!

 Later that night Dallen and I stayed to play games with those that were spending another night in the campers. We had a lot of great laughs and I'm so glad we stayed.

This family is a lot of fun and I hope to get to know them better each year. We made a lot of memories and are thankful for Ed and Christine for putting it all together!

A Brighter View

These are a few pics of the progress on Ed and Christines' house. The latest project that has been completed are the frames and shelfing above the windows, the beadboard on the walls, and the fireplace mantel. Dallen has done such a great job and has spent a lot of time making sure that it looks just perfect. I think he has a unique talent of being able to design and build things like this!!! The house looks very different and so much better every day. With the new windows that Christine designed and the white framing around them, the windows bring a brighter view into each room. We're really excited for Ed and Christine and things are coming together quite well!

 I love this room especially since they took out the wall that was seperating the living room and kitchen. It opens the house right up and makes it feel much bigger.

It's Your Day!!

It's crazy how fast time has gone by! Today was Dallen's 24th birthday and I'm happy that he was able to be off work for it! However, I had to work and couldn't stay home to make a big birthday breakfast for him... so I made some muffins and put them on the 'Blue Plate Special' before heading out the door. (the "It's your day!" plate is a tradition I grew up with. If there is a birthday, graduation, mother/father's day, or anything special going on for someone then they get to eat from the special plate that is only used for these types of events)... Anyways, Dallen spent the day helping his parents with some wood-working projects on their new house and was able to get a lot accomplished there. After I was finished with my day at the dental office, I went to Spanish Fork to see Dallen and we had Cafe Rio for dinner with Ed and Christine. It was a fun day but very busy for both of us. We ordered some headers for Dallen's derby car and they should be arriving in the next couple of weeks for him. I love Dallen so much and am proud to call him mine! He's a very talented person and I was definitely reminded of that today with the work he did on his parents house. I'm happy that we have wood-working tools and that Dallen knows how to use them and enjoys doing things like that. Both of us commented today about how we're excited to have a house of our own someday so we can work on it like he did at his parents'. I am a very lucky girl to have found such a great guy and I want to wish him a HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I love you babe! 

!!!*HAPPY ONE YEAR*!!!

I can't believe that today is one year since Dallen and I have been married! Time went by so fast and we have grown so close. I love Dallen so much and we have been able to accomplish a lot together! I am proud of where we are at in life, and am thankful that I have had the greatest man by my side through it all. Our lives for this past year have been crazy and fun and I'm looking forward to this next year that we have with each other.

 Dallen had to work over our anniversary so I came up to Pocatello for the weekend to be able to spend it with him. Just a couple weeks ago his gang was working in Oregon (about 8 hours away) but the move to Pocatello made it only a 3 hour drive which was great! I'm glad it was cose enough that I could atleast be with him on our anniversary. Saturday night we went to a derby in Preston (a small town just north of Logan UT) so here are some pics...

Preston was a pretty town and we talked about possibly living here someday since there are tracks that run right through town.

The derby was pretty good but we've seen better. I'm glad there was atleast one rollover for the night. It was the very last hit of the derby so that helped it end on a good note.

The sun set was awesome! It reminded me a lot of what the sky looked like the night that we got married. love it!

When Dallen and I got back to the hotel room we cut our wedding cake once again :) I was very surprised at how good the cake still was. Thank you mom for storing it in your freezer for a year. It was a lot of fun and I'm grateful to have Dallen!

HAPPY ONE YEAR!!

A New Job!

After Dallen and I got back from our cruise in May, we decided that it'd be best if I found a job for the summer. The debate in getting a job was because we liked the sounds of me being able to travel with Dallen to work a lot, and I could see him every week for a whole summer! We don't have kids right now and I'm not in schooling so it'd work out perfect since this will probably be the last summer like this... After talking about what we would LIKE to do and what we SHOULD do, we both agreed that a job for me would be best. So I typed up a resume and started looking around for openings. KSL job list wasn't much help so I googled a bunch of dental offices close by and spent a day delivering my resumes to them. Most offices were satisfied with what they had already and weren't looking for new employees. I didn't feel like I had much luck with the delivering method so the next day I decided to make phone calls instead, to ask if they had any openings.... and I had one call that said YES! They were looking for a full time dental assistant for a general dentist and that's just what I was looking for! I emailed them my resume and the next morning they called back wanting an interview. I iterviewed for over an hour with the office manager and later that night he called wanting me to come in the next morning for a 'trial day'. I didn't have any of my scrubs with me in Lehi so I called Kaitlin and she let me borrow some that she had.

So, Thursday the 17th of May was my first day walking into the office and things went really good! They asked me to come back for Friday and wanted me to work there for a week to see if I could keep the job. I was way excited about the trial week and really wanted to keep the job. When I went back to the office on Monday, I was offered the job plus a dental assitant schooling at no extra cost. The dentist would have me do an in-office-training (as if I was in dental assisting school) and let me still be on the clock which was awesome! I accepted the offer and since then I have been working full time for Dr. Chris M. Jolley.

I have worked as a dental assistant for a month now and am really enjoying what I do. I have been learning A LOT from the training that Dr. Jolley is having me do which is awesome! Dr. Jolley has given me some great compliments so I feel like he is pleased with my work. Being in the dental setting makes me excited to graduate in 2 years as a hygienist and the things I'm learning now will definitely give me a great start in schooling. I'm very lucky to have found the job that I did and for being able to start so quickly! I might be working part time in the fall when I go back to school at UVU and will for sure be done working when I start the hygiene program at UCDH in January. Until then, most of my time will be spent working here and saving up for more schooling  :)

Purple-Pieced Quilt

Quite a while ago I started the project of making my first pieced quilt and I was able to finish it this past week! My Great-Grandma Sonderegger has taught me how to do so many things, one of them being quilting. I admire her quilting skills so much! I honestly have never seen anyone better than her. She hand stitches ever quilt she makes and I'm sure she's completed hundreds of quilts. She enjoys sharing her talents with others and I am lucky that she shared them with me. So, I decided that the first pieced quilt I would ever make would go to my Grandma. Although I didn't hand stich the top piece to the back like Grandma Sonderegger would do, I am proud to say that I finished this quilt and I think it turned out great!
I was able to get one of these roller cutters which was super nice! It saved a ton of time trying to cut the material with scissors and expecially helped making strait cuts.

After I cut all the squares I laid them out on the family room floor and began the process of sewing them all together. It was fun to work with so many different patterns.

The top was a struggle in some areas to sew together but I was able to learn along the way with each block 

And Finally I was able to take this gift to my Grandma! Her favorite color is purple and it even showed that day with the shirt she was wearing :)  It made me so happy to be able to give something back to my Great-Grandma after so many years of her giving to me. I am grateful for her talents and for being able to live close to her while growing up. Our friendship is such a great one and I love spending time with her! She was so happy to receive this quilt and she even smiled with her teeth in the picture!

I thought it was awesome that she wanted to put it on her bed right that second. We went into the guest room and took the other quilt off and replaced it with this one. She even had a purple bed skirt that she had made so we put the two together and it looked great! I was surprised to find out that this quilt was only the 2nd quilt she has ever received from somebody else. The other one was from her mother-in-law (being my Great-Great-Grandma Sonderegger).

What a lucky girl I am to have such an awesome Great-Grandma and for the opportunity I have had in getting to know her and have a stong relationship with her.

Cancer Walk

Congratulations to Easton for completeing his big Eagle Scout project!

Easton has worked super hard to be able to complete his eagle project and I feel that he definitely chose a thoughtful and "well-worth-it" project. He put together a cancer walk for all of the Victims of Mill-Tailing Exposure (VTME) to remember those who have passed on from our home town Monticello. His project was focused on Marilee Bailey as she recently passed away. Marilee was one of the main founders of VTME which honors all of those victims, and was a big motivator to help provide funding for cancer screanings.

I would like to pay a little tribute to Marilee as she is an AMAZING person to look up to and a good friend of mine. Marilee's daughter, Jenna, has down syndrome and was in my graduating class. Throughout Elementary and High School, Jenna and I became close friends and we had birthday parties every year for her from her 13th-20th birthdays. She has such a sweet spirit and I am a very lucky girl to have grown up with her. In being friends with Jenna, I was able to get to know her mom a little and I can't say enough about how kind she always was to me and everyone else I knew. She was the kind of person that made others feel good about themselves and she was so happy and positive. I look up to Marilee for her kind acts of service. She was a RN and willingly gave her time to help others. She, along with Rick, has raised a beautiful family. I want to thank her for her example and for letting me be a small part of her life. I know that the little time I spent with her and Jenna will impact me for the rest of my life in a very positive way!

So as part of Easton's Eagle Project, he spent a couple weeks collecting donations for cancer screanings for our hospital, and handed out hundreds of paper bags for people to decorate in honor of cancer victims. He had a great response and a lot of supporters who spent time making these bags memorable. After all the bags were collected, Easton and the rest of our family filled them up with sand and lined them up along a 1 mile walking trail by our house. With all of our teamwork we were able to accomplish the task!

After all the bags were filled with sand and placed on the trail, we unrapped and broke glow-in-the-dark sticks to put in each one. This way the trail would be lit up at night and those that wanted to could take a night walk to remember their loved ones.

(Although the picture is a little blurry, the glow sticks were awesome!)

Before the cancer walk began there was a dinner held in memory of Jenna's mom. I loved being able to see Jenna as it was the first time after her mom had passed. Jenna was still so happy and was the sweet girl I have always known. I look up to her so much!

These pictures were displayed at the dinner of all the people who have been effected by the uranium mill in monticello and are honored through the VTME program.

It was really neat to be able to watch as the Baily family lit a torch in memory of their mom. I got a little emotional during the ceremony they had for Marilee but was thankful I was able to be there. The torch was transported form the dinner to the walking trail where it stayed lit for the rest of the night.

Dallen and I are so proud of you Easton and for all the hard work you put into this project. It definitely had an effect on a lot of people and I know they appreciated you for doing so! It was awesome that you raised over $1,000 through this project and that it was the most they have ever received through donations. We love you!
