Welding and Working

Today we got the motor put in Dallen’s car and the roll cage all put in. The trunk is now welded down and things are looking good so far. My welds are holding up so that’s a great sign! The last time we came I welded the vertical parts of the doors, so this time I welded the horizontal part next to the bottom of the car. To do so we tipped the car on its side with a tractor and I sat on top of the car. It was fun and I’m getting better at it, but it sure did get toasty welding in the sun.

I hope we can get the motor running the next time that we come!!

)( STATE BASEBALL )(

This past week was Easton’s state baseball in Spanish Fork. I was really happy that Dallen and I could go for it. Easton’s and his teammates made quite the homerun hitting team. Throughout the season Easton was able to get 3 homerun hits, and 2 of them were grand slams. He has improved a lot this year and has done a great job playing in the outfield. They beat 6 different teams to make it to the championship game and ended up taking 1st place!!

My Mom, Davi, Franki, McKay, Kali, Paxton, Grandma Fullmer, and even Grandpa Fullmer drove all the way up for the whole week to watch Easton play. It is hard for my Grandpa to travel because his feet swell up and it’s just hard on him when they travel so it was a great treat to have him there to support.

My Dad and Hunter were able to come for the last two games of the tournament as well. It was really fun to see them again and to have them there to watch Easton take state!

Paxton was a great trooper and was happy for most of the time. I love love love his blue eyes and cute dimples he has when he smiles big.

I had a lot of fun being with my family this week and especially watching Easton play. I love my brothers!!!

Hauling Elk to Tooele

Dallen and I just got home from Lake Powell on Tuesday and on Wednesday received a phone call that my dad needed some help hauling two loads of elk to Tooele for another elk rancher named Chad Hymas. We said that we would help him out and on Thursday morning we started the 5 hour drive down to Monticello again. With how much we’ve been gone lately our house might as well be considered a storage shed. Haha

We got to Monticello, loaded up 5 cows with us and turned around to retrace the trip that we had just made earlier today. About when we got to Price, UT we heard a “pop” noise and the truck and trailer started shaking. When we pulled over this is what we found…

One of the trailer tires had become sun rotted after being parked for so long and the tread came off while going down the load. We didn’t have a spare tire or any tools to fix anything so we made a couple phone calls and with some help from my mom, we were able to have the Wal Mart mechanic wait for us as we made our way into Price. When we showed up and he saw that we had live animals in the trailer he said we would have to take the tire on and off the trailer on our own.

After a little time, money, and work with the star wrench we were able to get the tire fixed and were back in business again. We are lucky to have caught the guys at Wal Mart or we would have been stuck in a bind!

The elk unloaded great and we made it back to our house in Lehi at about 2:00a.m. finding that we had forgotten our house keys in Monticello when we traded our car for the truck and trailer. Eventually we were able to brake in through the window and get a couple hours of sleep before we started another trip to Monticello and back.

Our second trailer load was a bull and a cow and they traveled great. On our way through Cedar Fort we picked up my roommate Anna Barnum to visit for a little while on the drive. It was fun to visit with her since it was the first time seeing her since I moved out from our apartments.

Here are a few pictures of the elk we unloaded in the second trip. It was awesome watching the bull run out of the trailer and to take a first look around at his new home.

Lastly, I can’t forget to add that Dallen found a couple more potential derby cars in Moab that we stopped to look at on our way down. I don’t remember the names of each of them but he said there were a couple cars that were awesome!!!
