NOT LONG ENOUGH

On Christmas Eve Dallen and I left Monticello to go to Nephi for Christmas. Before we left my family wanted us to open our presents from them so they could watch us. We decided we would (although I wanted to wait until Christmas day) and afterwards I was glad that we opened them.

This year we started a rotation of siblings getting each other gifts and we got Hunter’s name. We got him a goofy snowboarding hat and made him a shelf for his bedroom. Dallen and I had a lot of fun building it for him and I think Hunter had fun opening it as well. We love him!

My parents spoiled us and as you can see Dallen had a big surprise from them! He got a 7mm rifle with a camouflage stock. My parents have given each child a rifle throughout growing up and they said it was Dallen’s turn to get his. It was way fun to watch him open it and that big smile never left his face all day. My parents gave me some nice pampered chef cookware, cooking utensils and a couple of shirts. Davi had our name for the sibling gifts. She gave us some 7mm
bullets to go with the gun, some body wash and a necklace for me. Thank you Davi!

Since Hunter opened his sibling present and we opened ours from Davi, we decided to let everyone open the sibling presents. Easton had Davi’s name and he got her a snowboarding had that looked really similar to the one that we got for Hunter. It was funny that we both picked out hats that looked the same.

Hunter had Easton’s name and he wrapped his box with duct tape so it was a challenge for Easton to get to his present. It was quite funny to watch him as he spent a long time trying to open it. Eventually he got down to the box and was able to find his present.

Fondue Party 2011

Dec 22nd
Every year around Christmas the Bowring’s have a get together and we fondue with oil. Everyone pitches in with the marinated meats, cheese balls, mushrooms, toasted bread with a homemade cheese sauce (one of my favorite), finger foods, and desserts. We load up our plates with the food that we want and then let them cook in the fondue pots as we talk and spend time with one another. It’s not the most healthy meal but we love it! This year Amber and Daniel’s family, Rob and LeeAnn’s family, Grandpa and Grandma Fullmer, and my family all came. We had quite the crew at my parent’s house. It was a fun night!

On the 23rd we had another party with the Bowring’s and Sonderegger’s at my Great Grandma’s house. We had dinner and then played games in the basement with everyone. That night we also did a tradition that my family has every year for Christmas… Secret Santa gifts….. Our family finds 2 or 3 families that are struggling and could use some help especially around Christmas time. We go shopping for them and buy some toys, food, clothes, games, or whatever we feel they would like. Our family wraps all the gifts and then we put them in a big box to put on their porch. My favorite part of it all is when we get to leave the box in front of their door, knock, and then run and hide with the intent of them never knowing who it is from. This year we did the secret Santa to 2 families and it was so much fun! I love the Christmas spirit that it brings and the lessons of giving that it teaches each of us. It is a tradition that I want to keep alive with mine and Dallen’s future family.

When we went to Monticello for the holidays my dad showed Dallen this car that he found in Eastland (a small town east of Monticello). As you can imagine Dallen was pretty happy with this car and we went on a search to find out whose it was. It took some chasing around between people before we were able to get a hold of the owner but eventually we did. We made an offer on the car and she said we could buy it so it looks like we’ll be adding to our collection of derby cars at the house…. It’s a 1973 Chrysler Newport (aka the 3rd best derby car according to Dallen)

Christmas Stockings

The weekend after I finished school I went to Kaitlin and Spencer's house to spend the weekend with Kait. Our husbands were at work so we figured it'd be a great time to do our Christmas shopping and it gave us some free time to work on some crafts of our own. We decided to make Christmas stockings for each of us and they turned out great! We didn't really have a plan or know exactly how to make them so we made our own patterns and threw together a couple of materials and ribbons that we liked. Each of us made 2 green and 2 red stockings. It was a lot of fun!

We were able to get all of our Christmas shopping done that we needed to, watch a couple of movies, wrap all of our presents, paint a couple of crafts, and make some fun memories together. Thanks Kait for the great weekend! Love you

Fall 2011 Semester

This past semester has been a challenging one and I have given my best effort for all of my classes. I have spent long nights at the school as one of my classes was from 7-10 p.m. and many hours of studying for tests. As the semester came to an end I wasn't sure how everything was going to turn out but with the help of the Lord and giving my best effort, I was able to do well on my finals and come out on top with great grades.
I have learned many things along the way and want to give my thanks to Dallen for his support throughout it all. I am now preparing to apply for dental hygiene schooling since I have my required classes completed and hopefully I will get accepted to one of the programs. I am sending in applications to Weber State in Ogden, UVU in Orem, and Dixie State in St. George. I look forward to continuing my education and working towards graduating college. Thank you everybody for your love and support in getting me this far.

Our First Christmas Tree

November and December have been really crazy months for Dallen and I as we have been traveling around a lot to see family, holidays, football games, Dallen's work, and me preparing for finals in schooling. In spending our time with these other activities, we haven't really had a lot of time to decorate or get ready for Christmas. Last sunday we went to Janice's house with all of the Proctor family to have dinner and to play games. We mentioned that we didn't have a Christmas tree this year so Janice sent us home with our first Christmas tree and stockings. I am thankful to her for this because we probably wouldn't have had a Christmas tree otherwise. Dallen is leaving for work tomorrow and we are leaving to spend our Christmas vacation with family the day he gets back. We won't be back to our house until after Christmas so this tree is great for us this year! Thank you Janice for helping our home feel more like Christmas.

Outstanding Sophomore Wrestler!

Hunter has always been enclined to wrestling every since I can remember. He started out at a very young age traveling to tournaments and going to practices to learn moves and to condition. As he has grown over the years his love for the sport has increased. It is so much fun to watch Hunter out on the mat. He's quick, strong, works hard, and does well. During last year's wrestling season (2010-2011) Hunter hyper-extended his elbow but was able to wrestle with it wrapped and a brace. He finished out the season taking 2nd at state as a freshman.

During this year's season (2011-2012) Hunter's elbow was reinjured and it has put him out for the season. We're hoping it can heal in time for him to be able to wrestle at region and state. It has been really hard to see such a great and hardworking athlete get hurt in a way that he can't participate in the sport he's invested so much into. Hunter has been strong through it all and still does what he can to condition and to lift weights while at practice. I look up to him so much for his hard work and determination to never give up! He is a great example to everyone around him and I love him so much!

Monticello Junior High Wrestling team

Just recently Hunter was named as an Outstanding Sophomore Wrestler of the year in the Wrestling USA magazine by Utah Editor's Preseason Picks. An article was published with Hunter being the only 1A wrestler mentioned. The rest of the wrestlers were from schools 3A or bigger. I thought it was really awesome for Hunter to recieve this recognition so here is the article posted on the blog (below the next picture)

Hunter BowringMonticello High School, 106 lbs.GPA: 3.95

When I first saw Hunter Bowring, I thought that he was very unassuming, even nonthreatening, getting ready for his match against one of the best wrestlers I had at that tournament that day (I believe it was at the Beehive Brawl). Little did I know that I was looking at someone who was going to unleash on my wrestlers. Not only did his demeanor not divulge just how powerful and explosive he is, but how in the world did I not know who he was before that day? Needless to say, my wrestler didn't even make it out of the first round. Later that year, I watched him wrestle several more matches, beating rock-solid opponents while I was officiating at the State Games of the West. I've got to say, I've been a fan of Hunter's ever since. He is aggressive and executes with confidence born of winning a lot of matches and titles. As a freshman, he finished second in state behind Panguitch star Jory Owens. This came after a second-place finish at the 1A Southern Regional Championships. He never won a state title in junior high, but lost only three matches in the three years of competing at that tournament, in the finals to Delta's Victor Almanza, in 2010. But he made up for it with his freshman performance, accumulating an exceptional record of 40-5. He places at big tournaments and is consistently among the top of his competitors.
