Pumpkin Carving

!HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I went to the Proctor's for Halloween and we carved pumpkins together! Earlier that day, Dallen and I picked up my families boat from the dealership (It didn't sell) and took it to Nephi. On our way down to Nephi, we stopped and picked us out some pumpkins to carve. When we cut them open, half of them were completely solid which was very unusual. We had fun with it though and made them work!

First Snowfall

Last night we had our first snowfall! Big flakes, snowball fights, and lots of laughter. We danced in the streets and threw snowballs at the people in the hot tub... ;)
I'm excited to get out my snowboarding gear for the winter!

Halloween Festivals

For FHE we went to Thanksgiving Point to Corn Belly's corn maze and games. Above is Emily, Me, Katie, ...., Kristy, and Kim!

The big chair was AWESOME! It made me feel like a little kid again :)

I have to give it all to Ashlee! I talked her into going through the scary corn maze and she did it! Chainsaws, clowns, bloody people, claustrophobic tunnels, and white knuckles the whole way added to the overcast and cold night, to trigger our adrenaline. I laughed most of the way and had a great time!

Deer Hunt 2010

Easton was able to shoot his first buck this year without the help of anybody else. My dad was working on the house, Hunter was busy with football, and my mom was working, so he decided that he was going to go hunting anyways.

Hunter shot this 4 point on opening morning of the rifle hunt. Although it is a very nice buck, he was disappointed because right after this one went down a bigger one ran off. Hopefully it'll be there for him next year!

It was fun to come home from college to go hunting for the weekend! I only had one day to hunt so I was pretty excited when I was able to come home with a good 3 point! Mike, Cade, and Payton came down for the hunt as well. My Dad, Hunter, Easton, Mike, Payton, and I all went out together. About 5 min. after we were out of the truck we spotted a couple of deer and I decided that I wanted it. My dad let me use his 7mm (which Easton was using) and I hit it the first shot at about 290 yards. I gave the gun back to Easton and then finished it off a minute later with my 25 '6. It was the worst one I have ever had to gut but it was worth the excitement! :)

Mike got a little confused between what was a deer and fox. This is what he ended up taking home with him :)

Elk Hunt 2010

My dad... a hero, a role model, a friend, a coach, a rancher, hard worker, provider, an example, comedian, and more! Every October since his 4th grade year my dad has been to the elk hunt. It is a tradition that will last for generations and has brought so many memories to our family and friends. The majority of my most memorable times include the mountains and my family. I love fall! Hunting seasons, beautiful leaves, warm days and cool nights, campfires, 4-wheeler rides, early morning hikes, sitting on canyon rims, roasting mallows, dutch-oven meals, and so much more all started with the love of the outdoors of my dad. It is now something that I want to continue doing with the family of my own that I will one day have. Thank you dad for sharing your hobby with me because it is now one of my own.

What lasts?
Ice cream melts,
Flowers wilt,
The leaves of autumn fall.
Sunsets fade,
Seasons change
And children don't stay small.
Balloons pop,
Snowfalls stop-
Do summers last? Never!
Weekends fly,
Today will die,
But FAMILIES ARE FOREVER

This year I was able to come to the elk hunt for 3 days :) I left Orem Wednesday afternoon and got to Monticello just in time to watch Hunter's football game. That night my family and I went to the mountains and camped for the rest of the weekend. My Grandpa Bowring, Hunter, my Dad, Jason Kartchner, and Damon Orr all filled their tags the first couple of days so we did a lot of relaxing, playing games, golfing, and fishing. I had a blast!

On Saturday we played in the stream for a couple of hours on the backside and caught 7 frogs and a fish. We also climbed up the the Octopus Tree (which now has a geo cash) and hiked around the mountain.

Dark Canyon Lake is always a fun place to go fishing. It is a really pretty lake hidden in the pines and tall aspen trees. Above (L to R, Top to Bottom) is Austin Wilcox, Landon Kartchner, Hunter Bowring, Janessa Bowring, Easton Bowring, Cade Bowring, Isaac Kartchner, Jackson Kartchner, Avry Kartchner, Davi Bowring, and Seth Kartchner.

Friday night all of the kids had the trailer to ourselves. We put two big stumps on the fire and stayed up cracking jokes and doing random things most of the night. Of course we played many rounds of mountain golf, roasted bags of marshmallows, told a lot of stories, and laughed for hours at the humor of Hunter. I wish that time didn't go by so fast, but it always seems to when you're having fun! I'm already excited for next year!

Elk camp is always a little bit crazy with the many motorcycles and 4-wheelers. Here's just a glimpse of one of those times!

Fridays Kids

Last Friday I was able to go and babysit Evan at the Friday's Kids service care. It is a program that offers a "date night" for parents who have disabled children that need 24/7 care and volunteers go from 6:30-9:30 to watch them. Each child has one person who watches over them for the entire night as well as one nurse who helps with all of the children. It made me think a lot about how fortunate and blessed I am to be healthy and strong. It was also cool to be able to serve the parents and to see their happiness as they were able to spend some one-on-one time with their spouses. I considered it a win-win situation for the kids, parents and myself.

Evan is 6 years old and a super cute kid. He loved to climb, swing, jump on the tramp, and play with strings. He had a speech disability and couldn't talk which made it hard to communicate but I had a great time watching him.

Shantel lives on my floor at ventana apartments and came with me to babysit. We were lucky to get a picture with the little boy she watched because he loved to run, slam doors, and had a short attention span. The other kids were very fun and I look forward to the next time I get to go!

Presidents Fall Ball

October 5th was the President's Fall Ball at UVU. These are my lovely roomies: (Anna, Me, and Ashlee) and not pictured, Sam who couldn't come to this one but we love her dearly! We all got dressed up and pretty and went to the dance. They had all sorts of food and everyone was in formals. It was a great night full of laughter, excitement, and smiles!

My date was Paige! Brandon and Ashlee! Zack and Anna!
